The first exemptions by US Trade Representative's Office

The US Trade Representative's office has published the first group of product exemptions covering 150 products, at its web site. The list includes 150 product exempitons under S201 safeguard remedies imposed by the Bush Administration earlier this year. The move can also be considered as a step forward towards an amicable solution between the US and the EU, as some major mills have been granted some important exemptions. Arcelor leads the list with a total of 30 exemptions followed by Thyssen Krupp and Corus. However the reports say that the EU authorities are not likely to be immediately satisfied with the first group of exemptions. Please click here for the full list of first group of exemptions. Any comments or objections on the exemptions announced can be made until June 19.
