Thailand's steel demand is expected to increase 8-10 percent this year from 13.9 million metric tons in 2005, thanks to the expansion in the auto industry and canned-product exports, as well as the government's mega-project investments. Industrialists and investment specialists agreed that about 70-80 percent of steel production will be used by local market and the remaining part is for exports.
