The Italian equipment producer Tenova has announced that it has successfully commissioned two new CONSTEEL® plants at South Korea-based integrated steel producer Dongbu Steel.

Accordingly, the two new plants in question are part of Dongbu Steel's new 2.5 million mt per year capacity hot mill complex located in Asan Bay. Each CONSTEEL® plant is attached to a new 160 ton electric arc furnace (EAF).

Each CONSTEEL® plant includes a charging and a preheating section, with a total length of around 110 m. The charging section consists of two conveyors with which scrap, pig iron and HBI are continuously fed into the EAF. The preheater section allows the preheating of scrap via the recovery of the specific heat contained in fumes and by combusting the related CO to obtain CO2.
