Tenova Core, North American-based subsidiary of Italian equipment producer Tenova, has announced that it has been contracted to design and supply an austenitizing/tempering roller hearth furnace for Swedish steel producer Svenskt Staal AB's (SSAB) Alabama plant. The furnace will be installed as part of the new plate quench and temper line project.

Accordingly, the roller hearth furnace will feature an efficient electrical heating system and high quality rolls. The furnace will be preassembled in modular sections prior to shipping, in order to minimize the furnace installation time required at the plant. The new quench and temper line is expected to start up in the first half of 2012.
