TCUD: Turkey's scrap import volume falls by 15.4 percent in Jan-Aug

In the January-August period this year, Turkey's scrap import volume fell by 15.4 percent on year-on-year basis to 12.33 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $3.9 billion with a 23.9 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2018, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

In the given period, Turkey's scrap imports from EU Countries decreased by 11.6 percent to 7.88 million mt, its scrap imports from the US declined by 10.6 percent to 2.25 million metric tons, while its scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 1.5 million mt, down 21.22 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same period, the share of the EU in Turkey's total scrap imports was 64 percent, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 18.3 percent, while CIS countries' share was 12.1 percent.
