In the January-October period this year, Turkey's scrap import volume fell by 13.3 percent on year-on-year basis to 15.2 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $4.7 billion with a 22.7 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2018, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given period, Turkey's scrap imports from EU Countries decreased by 9.5 percent to 9.45 million mt, its scrap imports from the US declined by 3.9 percent to 3.05 million metric tons, while its scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 1.7 million mt, down 30.4 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same period, the share of the EU in Turkey's total scrap imports was 62.4 percent, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 20.1 percent, while CIS countries' share was 11 percent.
