TCUD survey: No fall expected in Turkish steel output and usage in Q3

The Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) has announced that it has conducted a survey regarding expectations of the Turkish steel sector for the third quarter of the current year.

Accordingly, the results of the TCUD 2017-Q3 survey which includes the prospects for the steel sector for the July-September period of this year showed that in the given period;

· Half of the respondents expect that the growth in production, which increased by 11.5 percent in the January-May period, will continue, while 33 percent of respondents predict that production will remain stable year on year.

· 67 percent of respondents expect that steel consumption in Turkey, which declined by 10.3 percent in the January-May period, will continue to decline in the third quarter.

· While for the July-September period respondents do not expect any increase in steel exports, which grew by 22.5 percent in the January-May period, half of the respondents expect steel exports to remain stable and the other half anticipate exports to fall, both compared to the same period of the previous year.

· According to respondents, Turkey’s steel imports, which fell by 20 percent year on year in the January-May period, are expected to remain stable year on year in the July-September period.
