According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), in the fourth quarter of 2012 Turkey produced 1,102,546 mt of coke derived from hard coal, down slightly by 0.5 percent compared to the third quarter of the year. 96.5 percent of the total marketable hard coal coke production was delivered to the domestic iron and steel industry. In the fourth quarter of last year, Turkey's hard coal coke deliveries amounted to 1,208,580 mt.
In the whole of 2012, Turkey's hard coal coke output amounted to 4.2 million mt, while the deliveries of the product in question amounted to 4.5 million mt in 2012, with the domestic iron and steel industry receiving 4.4 million mt of this total. On the other hand, according to TUIK data, no hard coal coke imports or exports were registered by Turkey in the period in question.
