SteelOrbis Shanghai On January 1, Tangshan Steel hiked its hot rolled coil ex-factory prices for January by RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). Following the adjustment, the price of Q235 2.75 mm is now at RMB 3,930/mt ($504/mt), while that of 5.5 mm is at RMB 3,800/mt ($487/mt). The above prices include taxes and are in effect as of January 1, 2007. On December 25, Tangshan Steel had released its ex-factory prices of HR coils for January. Since the steelmaker was pessimistic about the January market, its prices were relatively low. However, hot rolled prices went up sharply during the end of December. Consequently, Tangshan Steel moved to make an upward adjustment to its ex-factory prices. It is rare for Tangshan Steel to make such frequent adjustments to its prices.
