The municipal government of Tangshan in China’s Hebei Province has issued emergency emissions reduction measures to tackle heavy air pollution as of 18:00 o’clock on December 20.

Tangshan Meteorological Bureau had predicted worsening meteorological conditions in Tangshan as of the date in question, with reduced dispersion of atmospheric pollutants.

The emergency emissions reduction measures include 50 percent capacity cuts for pelletizing shaft furnaces and sintering machines, production restrictions at coke plants, the suspension of work at steel rolling mills, forging mills and in the foundry industry in Tangshan, as well as the halting of work of iron ore concentrators.

The emergency measures will remain in effect until further notice.
