Finland-based nickel and zinc miner Talvivaara Mining Company Plc announced on January 3 that it has achieved its production target for 2011, with its full year production totaling 16,087 mt of nickel and 31,815 mt of zinc.

Additionally, Talvivaara produced 4,769 mt of nickel in the fourth quarter of 2011, hitting a new quarterly record. The availability of the metals recovery plant improved significantly during the quarter after the production line was brought back into operation in mid-October, enabling the company to meet its 2012 production targets.

Talvivaara CEO Pekka Perä said that the company will remain focused on production ramp-up and on further improving the consistency of all operational processes.
