Taiwan’s iron and steel export value down three percent in August from July

According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports value in August this year amounted to $1.71 billion, decreasing by three percent compared to July and up 20 percent compared to the same month of 2010, while its metal product export value totaled $968 million, down 3.2 percent compared to the previous month and up 14.7 percent compared to the same month of 2010.

Meanwhile, in August Taiwan's iron and steel import value increased by 10.5 percent compared to the previous month and was up 7.2 percent year on year to $1.27 billion, and its metal product import value came to $1.17 billion, up 14 percent month on month and up nine percent compared to the same month last year.
