According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports value in September this year amounted to $1.56 billion, decreasing by 8.8 percent compared to August and up 16.2 percent compared to the same month of 2010, while its metal product export value totaled $876 million, down 9.5 percent compared to the previous month and up 14.9 percent compared to the same month of 2010.
In the first nine months of this year, Taiwan's iron and steel export value increased 21 percent over the same period last year amounting to $14.57 billion, while its metal product export value totaled $8.32 billion in the January-September period this year, increasing by 17.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in September Taiwan's iron and steel import value decreased by 9.4 percent compared to the previous month and was up 19.7 percent year on year to $1.15 billion, and its metal product import value came to $924 million, down 21 percent month on month and down 4.3 percent compared to the same month last year.
