According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan's basic metal export orders which increased by $360 million compared to August 2010, contributed most to the growth with ICT products and machinery.
Taiwan's basic metal export orders amounted to $2.65 billion in August this year increasing 15.85 percent compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, the countrys basic metal export orders in the first eight month of this year amounted to $20.72 up 20.11 percent compared to the same period last year.
MOEA noted that the international price of steel has returned to a stable level, resulting in more shipments of basic metals abroad. Compared with last month, however, basic metal export orders fell 3.61 percent
