Taiwan to erect 7.5 million ton integrated mill

One of Taiwan's largest private business groups, Formosa Plastics Group, announced plans to build an integrated steel mill in the country's Yunlin offshore industrial zone. Formosa will spend approximately NT$135 billion (US$4.25 billion) on the project. The 7.5 million ton capacity plant will be Taiwan's second largest mill once it is completed in 2008. Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs expressed their support for the project by providing 600 hectares of land for the mill.
