Swedish basic metal output up 1.2 percent in May from April

In Sweden, industrial production decreased by 0.1 percent in May this year compared to April and increased by 3.3 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).
 
On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry increased by 1.2 percent in May this year compared to the previous month, while rising by 13.1 percent year on year. In May, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 1.6 month on month and was up by 0.3 percent compared to May 2014. Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, basic metal production in the country increased by 8.7 percent and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 5.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis. 
 
On month-on-month basis new orders for Swedish industry registered a decrease of 0.2 percent in May of the current year, while new orders in the given month increased by 5.9 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to May 2014.
 
In May this year, new orders for basic metals in Sweden rose by 5.6 percent compared to the same month of 2014, including a 13.4 percent decrease in domestic orders and a 20.6 percent rise in export orders, while new orders for basic metals were up 0.3 percent compared to April. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, increased by 10.5 percent in May on year-on-year basis.
