In Sweden, industrial production decreased by one percent in December last year compared to November and rose by 0.1 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). The SCB said that within the industry sub-sectors the food industry stood out in December with large increases in output on month-on-month basis.
On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry decreased by four percent in December last year compared to the previous month, while declining by 1.9 percent year on year. In the month in question, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 1.8 month on month and increased by two percent compared to December 2012.
On month-on-month basis, new orders for Swedish industry registered an increase of 15.4 percent in December last year, while new orders in the given month increased by 14.7 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to December 2012.
In December last year, new orders for basic metals in Sweden increased 8.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 11.1 percent in December on year-on-year basis.
