China claims 75% of new shipbuilding orders globally in July 2025

In July this year, China attracted 75.0 percent of new shipbuilding orders (1.52 million CGT) globally, ranking first in the global market, while South Korea claimed a 16.0 percent share (330,000 CGT), ranking second, according to the data issued by Clarksons, the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services.

In July, new shipbuilding orders totaling 2.03 million CGT were placed in the global market, down 43.0 percent month on month, while down 58.0 percent year on year.
