The St. Louis Regional Freightway has signed a special Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Port of New Orleans to help with the coordination of the supply chain which will in turn enhance the region’s ability to move freight up and down the Mississippi River.

The agreement with the Port of New Orleans specifically calls for a mutual exchange of market and operational information, support in building existing and new business relationships between the two regions, and ongoing joint marketing efforts.

The agreement is expected to expand the movement of steel scrap in the region; the St. Louis Regional Freightway aims to handle more scrap through new container-on-barge services through the Mississippi River.
