On June 29, Spanish steelmaker Grupo Alfonso Gallardo announced that it is selling two domestic plants located in Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz) to liquidate the debt caused by the financial crisis. One of these plants is a galvanized and painted steel mill and the other is a pickling, cold rolling and annealing mill.
The galvanized and painted steel mill has a production capacity of 250,000 mt of galvanized coils or 150,000 mt of painted coils. The plant has overhead cranes with maximum capacity of 32 mt.
In the second plant, the pickling line has an annual production capacity of 400,000 mt, the cold rolling mill has a capacity of 400,000 mt and the annealing line produces 150,000 mt per year. The cranes in this plant have a maximum lifting capacity of 50 mt
The total value of both plants which use the latest technology is €125 million and potential buyers will be able to negotiate to buy them separately.
