According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in February this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.77 billion ($909.14 million), down 9.4 percent from January. In the first two months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 4.7 percent year on year to ZAR 22.67 billion ($1.91 billion).
In February of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.3 billion ($363 million), decreasing 23.8 percent from the previous month, while in the January-February period of this year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof fell by 2.1 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 9.9 billion ($835.7 million).
