South Africa approves Mittal-Arcelor merger

South Africa's Competition Tribunal has unconditionally approved the merger of steel giants Mittal Steel Company NV and Arcelor SA. Mittal Steel is the parent company of South Africa-based steelmaker Mittal Steel SA. Mittal Steel NV will acquire the majority of the outstanding share capital, voting rights in, and convertible bonds of Arcelor SA.
