SMS to modernize bar mill of Spanish Sidenor Aceros Especiales

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it has received an order from Spanish steelmaker Sidenor Aceros Especiales for the modernization of its bar mill in Basauri.

According to SMS, the goals of the modernization are to achieve a more effective rolling process and an improvement in material properties. The commissioning of the modernized bar mill is scheduled for September this year.

At the Basauri works, Sidenor produces round bars in diameters ranging from 29 mm to 100 mm in high-grade carbon steels, low and high-alloy quality steels and tool steels, roller bearing steels and stainless grades. The products are used in the automotive industry, in oil and gas and in machine and plant engineering.
