SMS Demag to build EAF for Ural Steel

German firm SMS Demag confirmed that it received an order from Ural Steel to install an electric arc furnace (EAF) at the Russian producer's Novotroitsk works. The contract also calls for the construction of a dust collecting facility, modernization of the existing bin system and supplying of electric equipment and automation. The furnace will replace Ural Steel's No.2 EAF, and in addition provide a slab caster. SMS' work is scheduled for completion in March 2006.
