Siemens to supply equipment for Corus IJmuiden’s hot strip mill

Austrian plantmaker and equipment supplier Siemens VAI has announced the receipt of an order from Corus Strip Products IJmuiden for the supply of new drive technology for the existing hot strip mill No. 2.

The drive systems are scheduled to be installed on the main drives of the seven-stand finishing line by spring 2012. According to Siemens VAI, the order is valued at several million euros.

The new drive systems are intended to ensure the availability and productivity of the hot strip mill over the long term.

In 2006 and 2007, the automation for the hot strip mill No. 2 was modernized by Siemens in several stages.

Corus Strip Products IJmuiden, part of Strip Products Division of the Tata Corus Group, is an integrated iron and steel works at Ijmuiden, Netherlands and has an annual production capacity of 6.9 million mt of liquid steel.
