Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that it has received the final acceptance certificate from Finland-bases stainless steel producer Outokumpu for electric arc furnace No. 1 at its Tornio stainless plant.

The new hydraulic system installed by Siemens has enabled the melting time to be reduced by around two minutes, increasing efficiency and productivity, and reducing operating costs. The modernization has also reduced energy consumption by a total of around 20 kilowatt-hours.
