German Metals Technologies giant Siemens has today announced that in February 2008 it completed the expansion and modernization of a coke oven by-product plant at Turkish steel producer Isdemir.

During the modernization, two semi-separate gas treatment lines were put into operation at Isdemir.

The expansion and modernization of the existing coke oven by-product plant will enable Isdemir to treat the increasing amounts of generated coke oven gas following the implementation of Isdemir's current project aimed at increasing steel production capacity to approximately 6.25 million metric tons by 2009.

In addition, environmental emissions are significantly reduced.
