Shougang Cold Rolled Sheet to turn focus to high-end markets

Wang Xiangyu, board secretary of Shougang Cold Rolled Sheet Inc., the cold rolled sheet producing subsidiary of Beijing-based Chineese steelmaker Shougang Steel Corporation, has said that Shougang Cold Rolled Sheet plans to direct its automotive steel sheet products to the medium and high-end markets next year.

The company mainly produces steel sheet products for application in the automotive and white goods sectors. Following its commissioning at the end of 2008, Shougang Cold Rolled Sheet has been focusing on the low and medium-end markets in China.

In 2009, the company's total output of cold rolled steel products was 1.27 million mt, including 117,000 mt of automotive sheets and 230,000 mt of sheets for white goods, according to Mr. Wang. He also predicted that the company's cold rolled steel production would reach around 1.7 million mt this year, of which automotive sheet would account for 600,000 mt.
