Shipments from MMK’s mill 5000 up 34 percent in January-June

Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in the first half of the current year steel shipments from its hot rolling mill 5000 increased by 34 percent or 142,000 mt compared to the same period last year. 

The company said that the increase in shipments is due to the implementation of major pipeline projects, such as the Power of Siberia and Southern Corridor.

Over the past six years, the mill 5000 shipped 3.86 million mt of steel for major pipeline projects of Gazprom, Transneft, Lukoil and other companies. In addition to the pipe industry, another major consumer of the products produced by mill 5000 is the shipbuilding industry. In the first half of this year, shipments to shipbuilding companies increased by seven percent year on year.
