Shanxi Province targets 850 million mt coal output this year

Wang Yongping, director general of the Shanxi Coal Industry Bureau, has said that China's Shanxi Province aims to produce 850 million mt of coal in the current year, with a total sales value of RMB 800 billion ($126.99 billion). At the same time, it is thought that the coal output of the province in the current year could reach as high as 900 million mt.

In 2011, the coal output of Shanxi Province totaled 872 million mt, with 581 million mt of this volume shipped outside of the province. The total value of sales of the Shanxi coal industry in 2011 reached RMB 813.3 billion ($129.1 billion), up 49 percent year on year.

In the coming four years, Shanxi will promote the establishment of three main coal production bases in the province, i.e., in the south, central region and east of the province.
