Shanghai World Financial Center construction in full swing

The main construction phase of the Shanghai World Financial Center began yesterday, and the project is expected to be finished in 2008. 13 floors of the main building were completed during the preliminary construction phase, which began last November. The building, located in Lu Jiazui, Pudong District, will be mainland China’s tallest building at 492-meters (1’640 ft). Zhongjian Company and Shanghai Jiangong Group, the two largest construction enterprises in China, landed the contract to build the trade center nearly a year ago. According to Shanghai Jiangong Group, the total structural steel consumption of the project is 62’000 metric tons. SteelOrbis Shanghai
