The Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced the opening of its first representative office in China, in the capital Beijing.

The new representative office will allow Severstal to optimize procurement costs, to strengthen existing relations with Chinese partners, to research possibilities, to expand contacts in China, and to widen the exchange of information between the markets in question.

"I am delighted to announce the opening of our first office in China. We are looking forward to start working with our Chinese partners, to receive and exchange information about business opportunities and the development of the market from first-hand sources," Severstal's purchase and logistics senior vice president Jake Oliver stated.
