Severstal invests in sinter production upgrade

The Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced a Ruble 200 million ($8.1 million) worth investment in the modernization of the sinter producing workshop No. 3, located at its Cherepovets facility.

The modernization works will increase the workshop's annual production capacity by 120,000 metric tons, improve the chemical specifications of sinter and, thereby, increase the quality of produced pig iron.

Severstal plans to complete the modernization works by March of 2009.
