Severstal completes billet concaster revamp

The Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that it has completed repairing and upgrading processes at a continuous billet caster at Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel.

The investment cost of the project totals Ruble 63 million ($2.7 million).

As a result of the scheduled repair and modernization work, the annual production capacity of the billet concaster in question has increased to 1.1 million mt; meanwhile, the casting speed of the mill has gone up from 5.3 m per min to 5.8 m per min.
