Senate appoints Timken to ambassadorship

The US senate confirmed William Robert Timkin Jr. to be ambassador to Germany on Friday, July 29. Last month President Bush nominated Timken, who served as Ohio finance co-chairman for the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004 and was a member of the elite fund-raising “Rangers.” Timkin is executive chairman of the board of Canton, Ohio-based Timken Company, an alloy steel and bearings manufacturer that had sales of $4.5 billion last year.
