Sales volume of CSC rises in 2002

Taiwanese steelmaker China Steel Corporation increased its sales volumes in the year 2002 by 8.6%, reaching a total of 10.54 million tons. Domestic sales increased by 7.5% compared to a year earlier, and exports by 11.5%, reaching 3.01 million tons. The main exporter is China, accounting for the 35% of the total exports of the company in 2002. The company believes this situation is due to the recovery in demand, after the slowdown in 2001. The demand is expected to continue growing in 2003. However, the plan is to allocate more material for the domestic market in 2003, as the demand from there is expected to exceed from overseas.
