SAIL sees growth in crude steel output in December

Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that it achieved total finished steel sales of 1.13 million mt in December last year, up 14 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The company's crude steel output in December last year amounted to 1.16 million mt, rising by seven percent year on year. In the given month, SAIL's energy consumption declined by one percent year on year.
 
In October-December 2013, SAIL's finished steel sales increased by six percent to 2.98 million mt, including exports of 177,000 mt, which rose by 122 percent, both year on year. In the given period, the company's crude steel output increased by four percent year on year.
