S. Africa's carbon steel sales indicate decline

South African Iron and Steel Institute disclosed that the country's domestic carbon steel sales decreased 6.1 percent year on year to 4.23 million tons in 2005. During the same period, sales of carbon steel flat products fell 8.5 percent while sales of profile products decreased 3.2 percent. The slowdown in South Africa's GDP growth caused a decline in the country's carbon steel sales.
