Russia’s scrap exports at 4.98 million mt in 2017

SteelOrbis previously reported that Russia exported 4.44 million mt of scrap in the Jan-Nov 2017 period. According to Russia’s customs data, Russia exported 4.98 million mt of scrap for the full year 2017 with 0.54 million mt exported in December.

During 2017, Russia exported 2.35 million mt (47 percent) of scrap to Turkey, 1.07 million mt (21 percent) to Belarus, 1.00 million mt (20 percent) to South Korea, 0.23 million mt (5 percent) to Spain, 0.06 million mt (1 percent) to Egypt, 0.04 million mt (1 percent) to Portugal, 0.04 million mt (1 percent) to Greece, and 0.19 mt (4 percent) to other destinations.

According to Statisa data, Russia’s steel scrap exports in 2016 totaled around 5.6 million mt of which approximately 2.5 million mt (45 percent) was exported to Turkey.
