Russia to take measures against imported pipes

Galina Balandina, Director of Department of State Regulation of External Trade of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Russian Federation (MEDT) announced that the MEDT plans to take a protectionist measures against imported pipes with large diameter. The MEDT's representative did not specify the nature of the measures but said that the measures would be taken against all countries exporting pipes with large diameter to Russia. Russian Fund of Development of Pipe Industry (FRTP) introduced a quota in particular for Ukraine pipes in the amount of 367,000 tons per year for the next five year with prospective of increase by 10 percent for the later period. The MEDT is to take final decision after consulting concerning parties.
