Russia to enter WTO by 2006

The 26th meeting for the Russian Federation's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) took place February 16-17, 2005. The meeting turned out positive for all parties, as the Russian delegation provided clear and detailed answers to points brought up by WTO members. The Russian delegation reported upon their return to Moscow that the talks would be completed at the ministerial conference to be held in Hong Kong in December 2005. It is expected that the outcome of the talks will be Russia's accession to the organization. Russia became more confident in its WTO bid after the US declared its support for Russia's accession on February, 12th.
