Russia scrap exports remain stable year-over-year in first five months

SteelOrbis previously reported that Russia exported 4.98 million mt of scrap in 2017. According to recent preliminary customs data, Russia has exported 2.15 million mt in the first five months of 2018. At a monthly average of 0.415 million mt of scrap in 2017 compared to the 0.43 million mt monthly average in 2018, Russian scrap exports are expected to remain constant near 5.0 million mt for the year with a potential slight increase.

From the total exports, Russia exported 1.09 million mt (51 percent) to Turkey, 0.39 million mt (18 percent) to Belarus, 0.35 million mt (16 percent) to South Korea, 0.06 million mt (3 percent) to Spain, 0.03 million mt (1 percent) to Vietnam and 0.23 (11 percent) million mt to other destinations.
