Russia issues Jan-July import and export data

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first seven months of 2009 Russia exported 16.044 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) - down 7.6 percent, 2.295 million metric tons of pig iron - down 27 percent, 402,800 metric tons of ferroalloys - down 11 percent, 8.058 million metric tons of semi-finished steel products - down 19 percent, 10.660 million metric tons of iron ore and concentrate - down 18 percent, and 948,800 metric tons of coke and semi-coke - down about 51 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2008. On the other hand, in January-July, Russia registered a 12.5 percent increase year on year in its flat rolled product exports to 5.266 million metric tons.

In the period in question, Russia imported 1.624 million mt of ferrous metals (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) and 321,700 mt of steel pipes.
