Rockcheck Steel starts production at Tianjin DRI facility

The direct reduction iron (DRI) facility of northern Chinese Tianjin city-based Rockcheck Steel Group Co., Ltd has lately commenced production. The facility, located on a site of 67,000 square metres and built with a total investment of RMB 380 million, uses a rotary hearth furnace and has an annual capacity of 1 million mt.

Construction work started on the project in question - for the world's largest direct reduction iron facility - on March 1, 2008. The project was designed by China Metallurgical Group Corporation's Beijing Equipment Design Institute and constructed by China Metallurgical Group Corporation.
