Rio Tinto and Baowu Group agree to discuss JV extension

Global mining group Rio Tinto and  leading Chinese steelmaker Baowu Group have agreed to discuss the extension of their Bao-HI iron ore joint venture (JV) in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, according to the statement of Rio Tinto. The JV has recorded a sales of more than 180 million mt since it was built in 2002.

According to the statement, the JV pertains to the Eastern Ranges mine and Western Range project in the Pilbara, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
