REMZ to start production in March

The Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR) has announced that the first line of the continuous billet caster at its Rostov-based subsidiary Rostov Electrometallurgical Works (REMZ) is scheduled for production start-up in March 2008. The caster is to produce 730,000 metric tons of billets a year.

Currently, ESTAR is undertaking hot testing of the main equipment at REMZ, which will take three months to complete.
