REMZ increases billet output by 2.3 times in Jan-Sept

Rostov Electrometallurgical Works (REMZ), the Rostov-based subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR, has announced that in the first nine months of the current year it increased its billet output by 2.3 times year on year to about 507,000 mt, of which 143,000 mt were produced in the first quarter, 180,000 mt were produced in the second quarter, and 183,000 mt were produced in the third quarter of this year.

Currently, the plant is operating at full capacity and is fully secured with necessary raw materials and orders.

In 2010, REMZ plans to produce around 800,000 mt of billets, up from 383,000 mt produced in 2009.
