Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), the second largest coking coal producer in Russia, has announced that in Q3 2010 it saw a 37 percent quarter on quarter decrease in its total raw coal production to 1.108 million mt, due to the temporary suspension of operations at Raspadskaya mine, following the accident which occurred on the night on May 9 this year. Meanwhile, coal production volumes from its other enterprises increased by almost 20 percent quarter on quarter, taking into account growth in production of semi‐hard coking coal and also in output of hard coking coal.
In addition, in Q3 this year Raspadskaya's total sales of concentrate decreased by 56 percent quarter on quarter to 676,000 mt, a drop which was also caused by the temporary shortage of railway wagons which affected the Russian coal industry in general.
For October 2010, Raspadskaya's detailed coal concentrate sales plans include semi‐hard coal concentrate sales volumes of more than 300,000 mt and sales volumes of hard coking coal (in raw coal) of about 60,000 mt.
