Quality control on iron ore exports to be implemented

Indian government is planning to implement restrictions on all grades of iron ore following complaints about poor quality iron ore shipments to China. In line with the new regulation, export of only high grade iron ore with ferrous content of more than 64% will be restricted. The Department of Commerce is considering the issue and a final decision will be issued after consultations with Steel and Mines Departments. The new regulation is expected to keep the subject raw material in domestic market. Therefore the problem of raw material shortage may be eliminated.
