In 2007, Shandong Province-based speciality steel maker Qingdao Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd produced 3.39 million mt of iron, 3.27 million mt of steel, and 3.1893 million mt of finished steel (including commercial slab and billet), up 1.19 percent, 0.56 percent and 0.98 percent respectively year on year. Also during 2007, the producer achieved sales revenues of RMB 28.2 billion ($3.9 billion), up 16.52 percent year on year.
In 2007, the speciality steel output of Qingdao Iron & Steel Group reached 2.4176 million mt, accounting for 79.12 percent of its total finished steel output. Meanwhile, the producer has achieved great advances in technological developments, such as in the production of high tensile strength C82DA wire rod, in boosting the quality of its flat springs, and in achieving breakthroughs in low carbon free-cutting steel and in steel used in automobile suspension springs.
